UNION PLUMBERS AND CONTRACTORS HEAD TO BEACON HILL TO PROTECT PLUMBING CODE, BUILD PARTNERSHIPS ON GREEN ENERGY TRANSITION

Plumbing experts, frontline workers, and top industry officials to meet with legislators on key safety, regulatory issues.

BOSTON – Union plumbers, contractors and industry leaders will join forces and head to the State House THURSDAY, April 27, to advocate for protecting the state’s plumbing codes, partnership on green energy transition and other key safety and regulatory issues before legislators.

The entire plumbing industry in Massachusetts is united behind the Commonwealth’s homegrown plumbing code (248 CMR 10.00), which has been protecting the health and safety of citizens and ensuring high quality plumbing work for decades. It is revised regularly to incorporate the newest and safest technology available but recently out of state organizations have sought to weaken and replace it with a more lax and recklessly negligent code. Plumbers Local 12, the Greater Boston Plumbing Contractors Association, and several leading industry groups will meet with lawmakers all day to advocate for protecting the state’s existing plumbing code, as well as other top issues, including:
● Ensuring the plumbing industry is included in green building and energy policy conversations,
especially decarbonizing the building sector and the development and use of green hydrogen
technology;
● Increased funding for the Division of Occupational Licensure;
● House Bill H.280: An Act Relative to Grey Water Recycling

There will be a PRESS AVAILABILITY at 2:45 p.m. on the State House steps by the General Hooker Entrance, 24 Beacon St.
