Somerville High School Tours TG Gallagher Prefab Shop

April 2, 2025  |  News

Students from Somerville High School’s plumbing program recently got a special view into the world of prefabrication, thanks to a visit to signatory contractor TG Gallagher’s shop in Andover. “Seeing prefab work up close and getting to talk directly with Local 12 plumbers gave the students a real sense of what the trade is all about,” said Nicholas Peck Palermo, Director of Public Affairs at the Greater Boston PCA.

The visit helped students understand how complex plumbing and mechanical systems are planned,
coordinated, and assembled in the prefabrication shop without the crew having ever visited the job
site. Students saw cutting edge technology in action, asked great questions, and came away with a better
understanding of the career opportunities available as a union plumber.

“It was a really great day. The students were engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and showed a real interest in the trades. It’s always encouraging to see young people excited about what a career in construction could look like,” said Maria LeVie, Talent and Culture Manager at TG Gallagher. “A few of them even asked about internships and opportunities at TG Gallagher, which was great to hear. We were glad to give them a look inside our work and hopefully spark even more interest in the industry. The next generation of plumbers is looking bright!”

Thanks to TG Gallagher for graciously hosting the tour and to the students and teachers from Somerville High for their enthusiasm while participating. It was a pleasure for PCA and Local 12 to help give these young people some tools they need to succeed.
