Community Outreach Director

THE COMPANY:

The Greater Boston PCA has served the unionized plumbing industry in the Greater Boston area for over 100 years. The mission of the Association is to better the plumbing industry through education, political involvement, community outreach, labor relations, and more.

Working at a small non-profit allows every employee the opportunity to make big impacts on the company and industry.

OBJECTIVE:

The Community Outreach Director will provide strategic support to the Greater Boston PCA by creating programs for underrepresented populations to have a pathway towards a career in the construction industry, political advocacy at the State House on pressing business legislation and regulations, creating talent pipelines with local colleges and vocational tech schools, and creating an online presence through social media and the company's website.·

Candidates are not expected to have direct knowledge of the industry or tasks; rather they should possess an eagerness to learn quickly, and eventually to take initiative to work independently at times.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and foster relationships with Boston-area vocational tech schools.
• Serve on Boston-area vocational tech advisory boards.
• Help underrepresented populations find a career with PCA contractors.
• Coordinate educational programs for the Association’s membership. Coordinate with partner organizations.
• Lobby state legislature on policies and regulations affecting the industry.
• Maintain the Association’s website and build a social media presence.
• Assist the Executive Director with event planning of 3-4 major events per year.
• Assist the Executive Director and membership with any other tasks or projects that may arise.
• Advocate on behalf of the Association to the MA State Plumbing Board for any code changes affecting Greater Boston PCA contractors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 0-5 years’ experience
• Interest in a combination of the following: community outreach, political advocacy, education, non-profits, construction, and business
• Proven ability to work independently, and collaboratively
• Strong communication, computer proficiency, and organizational skills
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
• Report directly to the Executive Director

Compensation commensurate with experience ranging from $50-$70K, and a competitive benefit package..
